SBS-30 Second Battery Switch

The SBS-30 second batery switch/charger (voltage sensitive relay) connects a second battery to your primary battery whenever the primary battery voltage is higher than your second battery. The SBS-30 can be used to make sure that your windlass battery or dedicated instrument or radio battery is charged at up to 30 amps when power is available and automatically disconnected when there is no gain to be made.

When using solar panels the SBS-30 will switch the second battery onto your primary battery when the sun is shining and charging your primary battery and disconnect the second battery at night.

The SBS-30 will disconnect your second battery from the circuit when you are drawing power from your primary battery so the second battery is not discharged. This insures that your second battery is always charged.

When used with your windlass battery, the SBS-30 will switch your primary battery into the circuit so that the windlass battery does not have to do all the work.

The SBS-30 has a LED that blinks to tell you what it is doing. A slow blink means it is working but the second battery is disconnected, fully lit means the second battery is connected, fast blink means the internal temperature sensor has determined that the electronics are getting too hot and the second battery is disconnected.

The SBS-30 will work with either two 12V or two 24V batteries but you can not mix them.

The operation is completely automatic, solid state with four 125 amp FET power transistors in parallel (extreme low resistance so no voltage drop) and completely silent. No relay noises to keep you awake.
